While many Rangers fans were focused on the senior team’s 1-0 over Livingston in the league, there were quite a few whose eyes were drawn towards the academy’s match against Inverness in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
The Gers lost the match despite taking an early lead through Dapo Mebude in the sixth minute of the game. Inverness managed to claw back two goals to win the semi-final, despite having a man sent off in the 58th minute.
Kai Kennedy also started the match. The young left-winger had many fans talking. Some think he has a great future under Steven Gerrard at Rangers. Some supporters think the first-team players could learn a thing or two from him. Although, a couple have their concerns.
Was at the game this evening and he was the best player on the pitch, very impressed!

Sign of a good player that he continues to create space for himself.

Can he break into the first team? Gerard prefers veterans.

The young lad should teach some of the first team how to provide an option for the man in possession instead of hiding behind opposition players

Do you think Kennedy will be a first-team regular within two years?
Yes
No
Others believe he needs to put on a bit of weight before joining the first-team. He is too small to make the jump up now, in their opinion.
Far too small will get zero protection from the refs as well, looks a player though.

to small would never get near the team the now

What do we think?
At 17 years of age, Kennedy has plenty of time before he is expected to be impacting the proceedings of first-team football. These Gers fans have high expectations for the player when he eventually does make the jump to senior football, however.
