Some Bristol City fans have been sharing their frustration on social media as Kasey Palmer was left sitting on the bench for the entirety of Tuesday’s 2-1 Championship loss to Huddersfield Town.

Palmer is yet to start a Championship game for the Robins since November, making just two substitute appearances for Bristol City so far in the Championship in 2020. The 23-year-old, who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, has started just 11 of the Robins’ 35 league fixtures so far this season.

Palmer’s complete absence from the pitch in Tuesday’s fixture drew the ire of some Robins supporters on social media. As Bristol City’s official Twitter account posted about their final substitution being made during Tuesday’s game, some of the club’s fans subsequently responded negatively upon seeing that Palmer would ultimately play no part in a game they were losing by two goals at the time.

Read the critical reactions of some Bristol City fans to manager Lee Johnson’s decision not to feature Palmer in Tuesday’s game at all in the tweets below.

Should Palmer have been brought on as Bristol City's final substitute instead of Andreas Weimann?

What do we think?

Bristol City struggled going forward in this past Tuesday’s Championship fixture. The Robins had managed to create just eight shooting opportunities for themselves in this game, which is fewer than half of the 20 shots attempted by Huddersfield on Tuesday evening.

The introduction of Palmer may have added a creative spark to Bristol City’s game. The 23-year-old has made a total of three Championship assists this season in his 985 minutes of game time. This gives him the Robins’ joint-third highest assists total for the 2019/20 season while playing a far lesser total of minutes than all of the players who have made more Championship assists for the Robins than him this season.
