This week, Birmingham City fans found a new team to cheer for, as a group of supporters stumbled across USL Championship side Birmingham Legion.
The team, based out of Birmingham, Alabama, are an American soccer team. The reason BCFC fans were drawn towards the side is easy to see, however, that’s about as far as the similarities appear to go.
Despite this, Birmingham Legion fan account Magic City Brigade thanked the BCFC fans for showing their support online during the team’s last game. BCFC fans quickly responded showing their support once again. One supporter thinks it could be the start of a bond that lasts forever. Well, at least 50 years.

As long as you guys hate Aston Villa, we’re going to get on just fine!

Just imagine in 50 years when @bhmlegion win the MLS in a sold out 80,000 seater stadium belting out Keep Right On and a young lad asks his dad where the song originated and he responds with a random allegiance with Birmingham, England on twitter and the rest is history. Superb

Would you travel to Alabama for a pre-season friendly?
Yes
No
Some BCFC fans even requested that the two teams set up a pre-season friendly. It would certainly be a long trip for the Blues.
Let’s make this preseason game happen. @bhmlegion @BCFC Somebody get Michael Wiseman on the blower. KRO

What do we think?
It is certainly a bizarre scenario, but an indication of the interconnectivity of the footballing world, nevertheless. At least this way, BCFC fans will have a team to cheer for during the summer when the Championship shuts up shop, with the USL running from March until October.
