Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers have shown that they are gutted with the appointment of Stuart Attwell for this weekend’s Premier League tie.

For the clash with Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur, Attwell will be the man in the middle and Simon Hooper the video assistant referee (as per Premier League), which had Wolves fans gutted (via Wolves Live).

Is there any referee appointment that you would be happy with?

No, they are all terrible

Yes, some are not bad

Yes, some are not bad

Attwell was last the referee for a game including Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the 2-1 defeat to Spurs back in December, during which he dished out eight yellow cards (per Transfermarkt).

The tie against Spurs will be the third Wolves game which Attwell has been in charge of this season (per Transfermarkt), and fans continued to show their disappointment over the appointment.

What do we think?

Over the 21 games that Attwell has been in charge of so far this term, he has dished out a whopping 104 yellow cards, however, only given three red cards and awarded six penalties (per Transfermarkt).

With supporters of Wolves already suffering a difficult relationship with officials and VAR (per Express and Star), though, it is likely there is no referee appointment that would appease the Molineux faithful.
