Does the absence of Raheem Sterling make the game more winnable for West Ham?No, we've still got no chanceYes, makes it a little more likely |
This season, Sterling has been in electric form, having bagged an impressive 20 goals and six assists over 35 appearances in all competitions (as per Transfermarkt).
However, of Pep Guardiola’s side’s 65 goals in the Premier League this term (as per BBC), just 11 have been contributed by Sterling (as per Transfermarkt). As a result, some Hammers fans don’t think Sterling’s absence will be enough to help get something out of the game.
Don’t think that will make any difference

Another 4 or 5 key players injured and we might keep it below 5.

Great, keeps the score down to 5 at least!

15 more and we have a sniff.

What do we think?
If there is one thing that Manchester City have, despite falling far behind Liverpool (per BBC), it is their strength in depth (as per WhoScored), meaning that there are capable options to take Sterling’s place.
No doubt, losing a sixth of the side’s scoring power in the league definitely seems a positive for West Ham, however, it does not make the tie that much easier for David Moyes.
