Spurs are reportedly lining up a £15 million bid for Norwich City’s Max Aarons in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Express, Jose Mourinho will be trusted with a huge transfer budget of £120 million in the summer as he looks to overhaul his squad, and the 20-year-old right-back is one of his top targets. The England U’21 international caught the eye of Premier League clubs with his performances in the Championship last season when he was named the EFL Young Player of the Year as he helped Daniel Farke’s side to the title.

Aarons has kept his place in the Norwich side for this year’s campaign, making 23 starts in the top-flight but understandably has struggled to perform to the same level as last season; averaging a disappointing 6.53 rating for the side currently bottom of the Premier League.

If Spurs signed Aarons, who would be first-choice right-back?

In what has been a bit of a rollercoaster season for Spurs so far, one constant has been Serge Aurier. The Ivory Coast international has been exceptional since the appointment of Jose Mourinho; averaging an impressive 7.29 rating for his performances in the Premier League, which suggests that Aarons would only be a back-up if he was brought in during the summer transfer window.

However, Aarons’ performances last season, when he contributed two goals and six assists in his debut campaign, suggest that if Spurs were to sign him for £15 million in the summer, then it would be an excellent deal for a player who looks to have a lot of potential.
