Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of Dele Alli during Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old was replaced in the second half after struggling to have much influence on the game; earning a 6.21 rating for his performance. The former MK Dons man started very brightly under Jose Mourinho and has contributed eight goals and four assists so far this season, but his displays in recent weeks have been far from his best.
The creative midfielder perhaps struggled in the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, both of whom missed the first leg through injury, but the England international can have little excuse for his poor performance.
Was Alli Spurs' worst player against Leipzig?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to Alli’s poor performance can be seen in the tweets below.
I understand Dele Alli’s frustrations but he should have been subbed off much earlier. He was non-existent. If Davies didn’t commit that horrible foul, I believe we could have finished on level terms. Ndombele needs to play more. Leipzig deserved the win tonight. #COYS #THFC

At the point now where Alli should no be starting games. Offers absolutely nothing when he’s not scoring goals. Get him out and get NDombele in and play to our strengths which are 2 quality CMs #thfc

Dele Alli becoming deadweight. Hate to say that. #COYS #THFC

Dele thinks he’s some kind of superstar who struts round the pitch like he’s completed Football. Throws a fit when subbed after being poor. Got a lot of growing up to do. Starting to grate on me now. #THFC #COYS

these are the type of games Dele needs to turn up for and carry Tottenham through. Dele is not a top talent anymore and should be benched. #COYS #THFC

This may be blasphemy, but based on form there is no way that Dele should automatically start every game…..especially if Lamela is available….he’s been basically dreadful for about 10’atrait games now….#COYS #THFC

These Spurs fans were clearly not happy with Alli’s display against Leipzig and will be hoping for a lot better when their side travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday.
What do we think?
Alli really struggled against Leipzig and if it wasn’t for the lack of attacking options in Spurs’ side right now, after the injuries to Kane and Son, then perhaps benching him would be the solution.
