Spurs fans were less than impressed with Lucas Moura’s performance during the 3-2 win over Southampton on Wednesday night.
Despite scoring the equalising goal for the North London club in the second half and receiving a rating of 7/10 for his performance (as per Football.london), the 27-year-old was singled out by a lot of Spurs fans on Twitter for having apparently played poorly. The former PSG man has been utilised as a striker in recent weeks following the long-term injury to Harry Kane and once again failed to impress fans with his display.
Since joining the club in 2018, Moura has gone on to make 92 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing just 23 goals. The Brazilian did not appear to have the best relationship with former manager Mauricio Pochettino but so far, Spurs fans are yet to see much of an upturn in form under Jose Mourinho; with the forward averaging a 6.82 rating from his performances in the league and in Europe (as per WhoScored).
Do you think Moura played poorly against Southampton?

Dier is wearing concrete boots AND nowhere near the ball. Moura is a headless CHICKEN. Verts is done. Sessegnon isn’t a left back. 3 at the back don’t work. WHOLE team are playing as individuals, can’t string more than 3 passes together.— themusicologist (@ukmusicologist) February 5, 2020
Moura still restingon his UCL laurels – shocking again tonight! #THFC

I clearly remember once upon a time when, if you heard a Brazilian was playing on a team you’d automatically think they were going to be an amazing player. Wow! How the mighty have fallen, lucas moura is absolutely garbage. It’s unreal. Damn!#TOTMCI #thfc #football #facup

Moura is diabolical. I don’t care how young parrott is now! There’s no way Lucas is the better option

It was so Lucas Moura, awful most of the game then he does something absolutely brilliant.

Didn’t realise Lucas Moura was still at the club, haven’t seen him since Ajax away. should have started the final though………….

These Spurs fans clearly weren’t too happy with Moura’s performance, despite his goal in the FA Cup replay win.
What do we think?
Moura has a habit of popping up with important goals, most notably in last year’s Champions League win over Ajax and his effort against Southampton was no different. However, it seems that the £36 million-rated man will have to improve his overall performances if he wants to win over Spurs fans.
