Spurs fans have been reacting to an article from Alasdair Gold after the journalist discussed Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Erik Lamela.
The Football.London journalist tweeted out his article on the 27-year-old winger and why Mourinho is such a big admirer of him. The former Roma man came off the bench during Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat by RB Leipzig; earning a 6.62 rating for his performance, but was praised by his Portuguese manager for his efforts following the game.
Mourinho said:
“Lamela? You know how many training sessions he made with the team? Zero. Direct from injury to recovering on the pitch with the physios, to 20 minutes of a game in the Champions League. We tried to manage to game the best we could – incredible spirit. People like Lucas, Lo Celso going to the limit, Lamela coming and trying to help the team the best he could and he was phenomenal.” per Football.London
Do you think Lamela can be an important player for the rest of the season?

They are a perfect match. He made such a difference yesterday – and he’s got a Mourinho-esque menace and charm to him.

Right now we need him
In the summer we have to replace him with someone who can play 40 games a season
Yesterday he was brilliant— Dan Travers (@dandinithegreat) February 20, 2020
Love Lamela. His attitude, guile and grit. It’s a shame he can’t stay fit but he’s important for us… He gets in the face of and presses opponents when we are otherwise passive and generates energy into others around him. He must stay.

These Spurs fans are clearly glad to hear that Mourinho rates Lamela and were quick to praise his performance during Wednesday night’s defeat.
What do we think?
Lamela has struggled with injuries throughout his Spurs career but with Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane both out injured, now is the time for the Argentinian to step up and stay fit.
