Spurs fans have been praising midfielder Giovani Lo Celso after his performance in the 1-0 defeat by RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Argentine international was instrumental throughout the game against Julian Nagelsmann’s side, earning an impressive 7.62 rating for his display. The former PSG man, who joined Spurs permanently during the January transfer window, has shown fans what he is capable of in recent weeks after a mixed start to his time at the North London club, which saw him miss six weeks earlier in the season through injury.
A post from LastWordonSpurs demonstrated just how good the 23-year-old was in Wednesday night’s disappointing defeat, including stats such as an 85% passing accuracy, as well as three key passes. Lo Celso was also perhaps the closest Spurs player to scoring a goal, as his free-kick was tipped onto the post by Peter Gulacsi in the second half (4:07).
Was Lo Celso the best player on the pitch against Leipzig?

World class player

Was outstanding. Moves around the pitch like prime Eriksen but seems more confident dribbling with the ball. Exciting.

Lo Celso reminds me of VDV. Sees a pass no one else does, including his own team mates. He’s different class. What we could have done with a player like him two years ago. #coys

They are. I thought we were below avg overall in the first half. Bright spots 1st half-Lo Celso’s everything
-Sanchez is our best defender.
2nd half- Coco energized the team for sure
-Lo Celso is world class. Going to be better than Modric.
¿Also, Eriksen who?— Chancleta-Man (@30Piesas) February 19, 2020
Lo Celso is an absolute pleasure to watch, Could just be our next VDV ?@rafvdvaart #COYS

These Spurs fans clearly feel that Lo Celso was one of the better performers in the Spurs side on Wednesday night and will be hoping for a similarly impressive display when Jose Mourinho’s side face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
What do we think?
Lo Celso looks to have quickly become a fan favourite at Spurs and with Christian Eriksen having left the club in January, it seems as if Mourinho will be reliant on the £45 million-rated man for a lot of his side’s creativity going forward.
