Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has revealed chairman Daniel Levy’s wishlist for Jose Mourinho this season.

In a Q&A session with fans on Football.london, Gold discussed what the chairman wants from Mourinho’s first season in charge at the North London club. In his article, he writes that “Levy did say to all of the club staff at the Spurs Christmas party in December that his Christmas wishlist was a top-four place and a trophy.”

Mourinho’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League and remain in the running for both the FA Cup and Champions League, with games against Norwich City and RB Leipzig coming up this month. The North London side are just four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, so their fixture at Stamford Bridge on the 22nd February could prove pivotal.

Which do you think Spurs should focus on?

Gold also revealed that “Mourinho will have something of a free hit this season and made it clear early on that next season he expected the team to challenge for the Premier League title.” This could prove extremely difficult, especially when you consider the dominance Liverpool have shown so far this season, but perhaps with a few signings, the North London club could challenge at the top of the table, given that since Mourinho took over in November, they have at least shown their top-four credentials.

Should Spurs keep up that form, then you would expect them to secure a top-four spot, but it will be interesting to see how much Mourinho focuses on the cup competitions, as he looks to end a run of nearly 12 years without a trophy at the North London club, with their last trophy coming in the shape of the League Cup in 2008.
