Some Southampton fans have been left in tears about the latest post by Sampdoria about former Saints defender Maya Yoshida.
The Blucerchiati roped in Yoshida from Southampton on transfer deadline day, with the Serie A outfit signing the defender on a loan deal, with the option to extend the deal further in the summer.
Do you want Yoshida back at St. Mary's?
Surely, he was immense
No, we are fine without him
Recently, the Samp Twitter account posted a video of Yoshida with the caption reading ‘Now you’re one of us’. Many Saints fans hijacked this post and made their emotions known about the club’s former defender.
Missing you already, good luck @MayaYoshida3#saintsfc pic.twitter.com/ZzJthtBzfW

Before leaving for Sampdoria in January, Yoshida had made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Saints. Eight of them came in the Premier League, with the other coming in the FA Cup and in the League Cup under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
He made 20 appearances in all competitions for the club last season. 17 of them came in the Premier League, with the other three coming in the League Cup for the Saints.
Southampton had signed the Japanese from Dutch side VVV Venlo in the summer of 2012 when he signed a three-year deal. During his time at St. Mary’s, he made 194 appearances in all competitions for the club from the south coast.
What do we think?
The number of times Yoshida played for the club shows what an impact he had at Southampton during his eight-year-long stay at the club. Southampton fans are right to be emotional as they aren’t used to seeing the veteran in another jersey.
