A lot of Newcastle United fans are talking about the future of Andy Carroll after his name came up in the Chronicle’s live Q&A.
Should Newcastle give Carroll a new contract?
Yes, he has made an impact
No, never fit enough
The Chronicle asked fans if they would give a new deal to Carroll, and many responded with the same answer, and it seems that these Toon fans do not want to see the 31-year-old handed a new contract.
Would you give Andy Carroll a new deal?
That plus questions on #nufctakeover, contracts, injuries and more: https://t.co/fAZhyxafMN

No. If he wasn’t a Geordie not a single person would be saying yes

No chance..we all knew he has a history of injuries a mile long so why sign him if he is only capable of 10 games a season..

No, sorry. For all the hype he has been exactly what I thought he would be. Fragile and generally unavailable most of the time. He was the typical #NUFC cheap option and it hasn’t worked!

What do we think?
Carroll, who is valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, returned to Newcastle in the summer, and after making his second debut for the club in a 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, he has gone on to make a further 12 league appearances for the Toon.
In that time, he has not scored, but he has provided three assists and has an average rating of 6.75 from WhoScored.
However, the former West Ham man’s injury problems have returned and caused Carroll to miss Newcastle’s last five matches, while according to a report in the Daily Mail, he is still unavailable.
If Carroll can’t prove his fitness for the rest of the season, then it might be best for both parties if he leaves in the summer.
