A lot of Newcastle United fans cannot believe the latest update on Matty Longstaff’s contract situation.
A report in the Evening Chronicle claimed that the Toon are now worried that the younger of the Longstaff brothers could depart the club, with The Times (via Daily Star) suggesting he could leave for as little as £400k in the summer.
Will Newcastle sort out this contract?
Yes, they have to
No, waited too long already
Steve Bruce is also concerned about the situation, and he hopes that it can be resolved.
The Toon’s boss said that the player has the power but that he hopes common sense will prevail, and the 19-year-old will sign a new deal.
This has not gone down well with these Newcastle fans, who blame the club for not sorting this deal out.

it’s strange that with the club claiming they want more local talent. They’ve only had MONTHS to sort this out.

Should have been sorted after his debut, any normal club would have had it sorted the week after the Man Utd game

Itl be absolutely criminal if the board can’t put a deal on the table for matty watching local talent from a young age then giving them away for peanuts like arma . Pathetic

All Mike Ashley is thinking how much I can get for him.

What do we think?
Since making his dream debut in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Manchester United where he scored the winner, the 19-year-old has made six Premier League appearances and has averaged a 6.63 rating from WhoScored as well as scoring two further goals across all competitions.
The younger Longstaff bother is clearly a talent, and if the Toon were to lose him for just £400k, then that would be criminal.
They have to agree a new deal with Matty sooner rather than later.
