A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to Keith Downie’s tweet from Steve Bruce’s press conference – as the Toon boss confirmed that his squad have been working on a new formation.
The Sky Sports reporter said that Bruce has indicated Newcastle will move away from five at the back and adopt a new formation to get the Magpies scoring more goals.
Is Bruce making the right decision here?
Yes, but why has it taken this long?
No, stick to the back five
However, this has not gone down well on Twitter, as these Toon fans feel Bruce should have made the change ages ago.

Glacial pace with Brucey, it seems. God help him if Burnley alter their tactics halfway through to counter anything he does… ?

Should have been worked on for two weeks over the international break when every man and his dog (bar Bruce) could see the issue rather then having a little mini holiday.
Thx to his inability to think quickly we lost a mustn’t lose game last week at Palace.#Bruceout— Mark (@mja1980) February 28, 2020
Took him until February to try and score some goals ?

Other Newcastle supporters couldn’t believe Bruce just basically told everyone that he was changing tactics.
Well done Steve could have done without announcing that to the entire world

Nice one Steve lad should’ve just text every manager to let them know

Fair enough but why tell Sean Dyche now? ????

What do we think?
Newcastle are the joint-lowest goalscorers in the division, and they have failed to score in their past three league games, so Bruce has to come up with something different.
Jonjo Shelvey – Newcastle’s top goalscorer with five – is available for selection (09:31), so that could help.
Either way, it looks like the Toon will be lining up differently on Saturday.
