Liverpool have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz. The Anfield club were said to be exploring the possibility of bringing the 20-year-old to Merseyside in the summer, but have been put off by the Bundesliga outfit’s asking price, according to the Independent, cited by IBTimes.
Havertz has come through the youth setup in Leverkusen and has caught the eye with his impressive showings at the BayArena. How do the Liverpool fans feel regarding the reports they will likely end their interest in signing the German international?
Is Kai Havertz worth spending £80m+ on?

A couple of fans even mentioned the Alisson Becker saga. Indeed, the Merseyside club were reportedly put off AS Roma’s original price tag but the Reds ended up going back in and securing the Brazilian for £66.8 million.

What do we think?
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the player has a current market value of £81m, and you would expect the selling club to add an additional sum on top in order to compensate them for their loss.
Havertz has played 17 times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 4 goals and providing two assists to date. He averages a performance rating of 7.07/10 in the league (via WhoScored.com) and is best known for his passing, dribbling, through balls and ability to hold onto possession.
The German is, without doubt, a top-quality footballer but whilst the asking price remains so high the level of risk is huge and so you can understand why Liverpool may be reluctant to move negotiations forward.
