Some Celtic fans have been left ecstatic by a club statement that the Hoops have issued against leading broadcaster Sky Sports.

The statement from the club has asked Sky Sports to conduct an investigation into how their interview of Alfredo Morelos was conducted. The club has said that there are ‘inconsistencies’ between what Morelos had said and what the subtitles that were used.

The statement also said that Celtic Football Club ‘abhors racism’ and that Sky needs to clarify their position about the interview.

When Celtic posted the link on their social media account, many Hoops fans were left ecstatic about the club’s actions.

This season has seen a total of three Old Firm derbies so far. Two of them have come in the Premiership, with one coming in the League Cup final that saw Christopher Jullien score a winner in the second half for the Hoops. The most recent one saw Rangers win 2-1, but the first one of the season had seen Neil Lennon’s men pick up a 2-0 win against a 10-man Gers side.

While Celtic have won every single game since losing to Steven Gerrard’s men, the Gers recently lost to Hearts and were held to a goalless draw by Aberdeen.

What do we think?

Celtic fans are right to be happy about the statement, considering racism is a strong accusation from anyone. And if Sky Sports have indeed mistranslated the interview, they should take a long look at themselves.
