Liverpool are looking to tie down both Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to new long-term contracts, according to a report by Melissa Reddy of the Independent. That will come as positive news to the club’s loyal supporters but it gets even better because the report goes on to claim the pair are wanting to extend their Anfield contracts, too.
The news has been met with joy by these Liverpool fans and given the importance of the two players in question, who can blame them?

What do we think?
Liverpool are on course to win their first-ever Premier League title and both Virgil van Dijk and Alisson have been key in the team’s improvement. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the pair have a combined transfer value of £171m and therefore, from the club’s perspective, it’s vital they protect their biggest assets.
Despite the Anfield hierarchy seemingly deciding the futures of the pair are a priority this season, Van Dijk’s current deal is not set to expire until 2023 and Alisson’s comes to an end the year after.
