Liverpool fans have flocked over to Twitter to respond to comments made on former Red Emre Can by club legend John Aldridge.
This comes after Liverpool fan account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their Twitter page relaying quotes made by Aldridge in the Liverpool Echo on the German.
On the former Reds midfielder, Aldridge revealed that he thought Can was “punching above his weight” at the Merseyside club.
Will Emre Can be a success at Dortmund?
Yes
No
This post then led to a lot of Liverpool fans replying with their thoughts on Aldridge’s assessment on Can.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans reacting to the post:
He respected his contract and moved on, left in the most respectable way imo ?????

Can left Anfield in 2018 on a free transfer to Italian side Juventus after spending four years at the Merseyside club. In the recent January transfer window, he made a loan move to German club Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. Now that Aldridge has claimed that Can joined Dortmund to “salvage his career”, these comments have gathered a lot of negative responses from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their disagreements with Aldridge on Twitter.
That’s a bad take Aldo. He honored his contract what else is there to say or are you getting ready for a pop at Adam Lallana?

John has a point but a little overly harsh. Think he’s a decent player and Dortmund is a good club to play for (though he isn’t guarenteed first team football there either, like Juventus). I DO think so fans overrated him. If he looked like Peter Beardsley, they wouldn’t have.

Terrible take

What do we think?
Aldridge’s comments do seem a bit harsh on Can, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt. But after only making 45 appearances for Juventus during his time at the club, you can see where he’s coming from when he says that Can has moved back to Germany to save his career. After scoring on his Bundesliga debut for Dortmund, it seems that he has hit the ground running after his latest move.
