Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League with a commanding 22-point lead, and it’s perhaps because they’re in such a fantastic position that the fans can look back at those who they regard to be their worst-ever signings in such a light-hearted manner.
These supporters were discussing several candidates, but there is one former player whose name repeatedly came up.
Is El Hadji Diouf Liverpool's worst ever signing?
Yes
No
El Hadji Diouf. The antithesis of everything Liverpool stands for.

Diouf. No question. Despicable player and human.

Diouf. Sickens me to think he wore our shirt and has spent ever since slagging off our club and our greatest ever captain.

Would have to go with Diouf, no because of ability but purely because he’s a horrid person

What do we think?
El-Hadji Diouf made 80 appearances for Liverpool but he only managed six goals for the Anfield club (as per lfchistory.net). The former Senegal international has since come across as extremely bitter regarding his time on Merseyside and once said he regretted signing for the Reds, going on to say he should have joined Manchester United instead, which surely wouldn’t have gone down well with the club’s supporters (via TalkSPORT).
Aside from his poor performances in the famous red strip, Diouf’s conduct in a number of situations made him unlikeable. Spitting at Celtic supporters and disobeying his manager’s clear instructions were just a couple of the reasons the fans failed to warm to him, therefore, it’s no wonder he’s considered amongst the club’s worst signings.
