Fans of Liverpool have been reacting to a post by The Athletic’s James Pearce, in which the journalist informs of Loris Karius’ return to the club this summer.
Karius, who has been on loan at Besiktas for the past 18 months, has made 21 league appearances for the Turkish side this season, conceding 25 goals and keeping seven clean sheets.
However, Pearce has reported that Besiktas will not be activating a clause in which they could purchase Karius permanently for £7.25 million, meaning that unless the situation changes over the coming months, the German will return to Liverpool this summer.
According to Pearce, sources close to Karius have confirmed that he is expecting to move on this summer, with Liverpool open to offers for the £4.5 million-rated goalkeeper.
In reaction to the article, Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter, with many stating that they hope to see the German move on this summer.
Loris Karius set to return to Liverpool this summer. Besiktas don’t intend to trigger their option to buy him after the end of his loan and the keeper is targeting a new challenge after a turbulent spell in Turkey #LFC https://t.co/o85va3FLXt

Now they’re out of CL it’ll be tough for Man City to sign players, so let’s loan him out to them as a favour.

Not sure what to think about the prospect. Sounds like Adrians going in the summer. Do I want to be nice – yes. Would I want him as backup – no.

What do we think?
Although Karius will have spent two years away from the club, it appears that Liverpool fans are yet to forget his Champions League final disaster. With this in mind, it would appear that the best move for both Karius and Liverpool would be for the two to part ways this summer.
