Liverpool are currently 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League and look set to win their first domestic title since 1990. Jurgen Klopp’s side have maintained and improved upon the incredible levels of consistency they displayed last season and as a result, they’ve left Pep Guardiola and Manchester City behind.
The Reds have conceded just 15 goals this season, which is nine fewer than Sheffield United who have the second-best defensive record in the division. Despite the huge gap between the two sides, Manchester City have scored four more goals than the Anfield club, further highlighting the importance of being defensively sound. A tweet on Liverpool’s set-piece solidity got Reds fans talking.
Do you feel comfortable when Liverpool defend set-pieces?
Yes
No
However, based on the tweets of some Liverpool fans, that feeling of being defensively secure hasn’t always been there.
Every time we concede one now I’m dead calm, but also too superstitious to mention the record while a corner is actively being taken

Zonal marking during the 2009-10 season ? every conceded set piece felt like we had conceded a penalty.

A corner was basically a penalty to the opposition

Now I get excited about a counter opportunity

The best part is I’m more confident we’ll end up scoring on the break when defending a corner than i am conceding

Massive improvement!

Yep ……madness …..but then again when you mix Lovren and Mignolet with things like Zonal marking it’s no wonder really.

What do we think?
Liverpool currently have 11 points more than they had at this same stage last season when they ended up finishing on a total of 97. They could not only win the title with plenty of time to spare, but also smash Manchester City’s record points tally of 100. In our view, that could make them the Premier League’s greatest ever side.
