Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool endured a frustrating night at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday, where they suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Whilst the result was a disheartening one, the Reds will remain in with a shout of overturning the deficit in the second leg on March 11th.

The Anfield faithful, despite the result, were impressed by Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey – with some wanting the club to go out and sign him this summer.

Thomas Partey played a vital role in the Atletico Madrid midfield on Tuesday night and that is backed up by the fact his performance earned him a rating of 7.6/10 – the third-highest rating on his team (via WhoScored.com).

What do we think?

The midfielder has made 171 appearances for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid to date. He’s been on the club’s books since July 2012 and is now valued at £45m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

It seems that some Liverpool fans wouldn’t mind adding Partey to their squad, though it remains to be seen whether or not Atletico would be willing to sell the player.
