Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos believes Liverpool are one of several clubs who would be interested in him if he was to leave Glasgow. Speaking to Radio Caracol (as reported via the Liverpool Echo), the 23-year-old said: “I think they are aware [of me].”

“I imagine that is the case with the coach we have, who played for Liverpool for so long.  I imagine he has friends and directors who come to the games, as well as scouts from other teams. It’s a motivation to keep doing well.”

What have the Liverpool supporters made of the former HJK Helsinki striker’s comments?

One fan even called Morelos a poor man’s Luis Suarez. The fan may have drawn the comparison from their lack of discipline as players, with Luis Suarez previously receiving a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic, and Morelos is known for his recklessness.

What do we think?

Morelos, who is valued at £13.5 million (Transfermarkt), has proven himself to be an expert marksman since joining the Scottish giants back in July 2017.  The Colombian has scored 76 goals in 128 appearances, as well as providing 28 assists for his teammates. Signed for a reported £1.08m, there is no denying his acquisition was a brilliant piece of business and according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, his value has increased by almost seven times his transfer fee.

That said, the striker boasts a rather poor disciplinary record at Ibrox. He’s been shown a yellow card on 35 occasions, a second yellow card on four occasions and a straight red card three times – which is unusually high for a forward, but although it is not ideal, it demonstrates the aggression and commitment with which Morelos plays.
