Some Everton fans have reacted positively on social media as the Toffees are linked with a move for Marseille’s Morgan Sanson.

Carlo Ancelotti is yet to make a signing as Everton manager. The Italian was appointed Everton in December, just 11 days before the January transfer window opened on New Year’s Day. On the 21st of December, the date of Ancelotti’s appointment, Everton sat in 15th place in the Premier League, just four points clear of the relegation zone. However, despite that, the Italian didn’t see the club bring in any reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Now, just over two months into Ancelotti’s reign, Everton currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League table, sitting 12 points clear of the relegation zone and just eight points away from the Champions League places at present. Given the turn in the Toffees’ fortunes in the 60-year-old’s short time in charge, he may enjoy some backing in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Express has reported that Ancelotti “is keen” to sign French midfielder Sanson this summer, stating that there is “an agreement” in place between the 25-year-old and his club Marseille to allow him to leave this summer. Some Everton fans have reacted with joy to the news that their club may be considering a move for the midfielder. Read the reactions of some Everton fans to this news in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Sanson has featured in 25 of Marseille’s 26 Ligue 1 games this season. This shows that the 25-year-old has featured frequently for a team that currently sits in second place in the Ligue 1 table, trailing only PSG at present.

He has scored four goals and made three assists so far this season for Les Olympiens. Furthermore, he has earned an average overall rating of 6.91 for his Ligue 1 performances this season, as per WhoScored.com.

Sanson has scored more goals in Ligue 1 than all but two of Everton’s players have scored in the Premier League this season. Furthermore, only two Everton players have assisted more goals in Everton’s 2019/20 Premier League campaign than Sanson has in Marseille’s 2019/20 Ligue 1 season.

In addition to that, Sanson’s average overall rating of 6.91 for the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season is a higher rating than what all but four Everton players have currently got for the 2019/20 Premier League campaign. Therefore, Sanson may be a player who could improve Everton should the Toffees target him this summer.
