Crystal Palace managed to sneak a 1-0 win from their match against Newcastle United on the weekend. A Patrick van Aanholt free-kick was the difference-maker on the day, ending the side’s horrific eight-game winless streak.
Christian Benteke started the match, playing for a full 89 minutes before being subbed off for Cenk Tosun. Despite failing to score, the Belgian managed to record a 7.3/10 rating from WhoScored.
It has been a difficult year of football for Benteke, having scored just once in 19 appearances so far. He only just picked up his first goal of the season during the side’s 3-1 loss to Everton a few weeks ago.
However, many Eagles fans still appreciate what Benteke brings to their team, even if he is struggling to score. After the striker celebrated the team’s win on Twitter, many fans applauded his effort, claiming that he had a brilliant game.

Does Benteke have to score in order to help the team win?
Yes
No
A couple of fans are confident that he will bag a goal against Brighton this coming weekend.

What do we think?
When a striker finds himself not scoring, questions will always be asked. However, it is easier to forgive their inability to put the ball in the back of the net when their side is winning.
If Benteke can help Roy Hodgson’s side go on a winning streak, we’re almost certain his goal tally will be the least of the fans’ concerns.
