Aston Villa fans have been reacting to the news that a transfer move for Salomon Kalou fell through on January deadline day.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @TheVillaVision shared a post on their page revealing the news originally shared by Kalou via Berliner Kurier that the deal fell through due to “work permit issues” he had.
Would Salamon Kalou have been a good move for Villa?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were keen to share their thoughts on this proposed deal.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans reacting to the post:
He’s no spring chicken.

The winger currently plays in the Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin after making 254 appearances for fellow Premier League side Chelsea alongside currently Villa coach John Terry. Now that Kalou revealed that he was in talks with a reunion with Terry as a Villa player at the end of the January transfer window, some Villa fans have been sharing their delight that the deal didn’t work out.
One fan even stated that it was masterful from Suso, which could be down to the fact that Aston Villa acted quickly to bring in Borja Baston from Swansea City late on deadline day, with Solomon Kalou’s work permit seemingly bringing his potential move to a halt.
Masterful from Suso!

What do we think?
After making so many appearances in the Premier League during his time at Chelsea, Kalou, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), would have offered Dean Smith’s side a lot of experience performing in the top tier of English football. But it seems that this would not have been a popular move with the fans.
