Aston Villa fans have flocked over to Twitter to discuss the latest comments made by defender Tyrone Mings.
This comes after Villa fan account @villareport shared a post on their Twitter page relaying quotes made by Mings to the official Villa club website via VillaTV.
Regarding Villa’s 2-0 defeat at Southampton at the weekend, Mings said that they can have no complaints because the performance “wasn’t good enough” to get a result.
Do the Villa players have enough fight in them to avoid relegation?
Yes
No
This post then gathered numerous replies from Villa fans who were keen to share their thoughts on Mings’ comments.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Tyrone Mings: “We’re in a relegation battle and the minimum requirement is to fight and battle and we didn’t do that. We can have no complaints because it wasn’t good enough.” [avfc] #avfc

“The minimum requirement is to fight and battle and we didn’t do that”
It’s all very well and good saying it afterwards but why didn’t we do that? We should be fighting for every ball, flying into every tackle and be bang up for every game but we’re not

As someone once said ‘words are cheap…’

They should refund all the supporters that travelled to Southampton out of there own pockets.

Talk is cheap let’s show it on the pitch and turn up

Villa are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table on 25 points, just above the relegation zone. Now that Mings, who is currently valued at £25.2 million (according to Transfermarkt), has come forward and admitted his side’s faults in recent games, lots of Villa fans have been demanding that Mings and the rest of the team put their words into action on the pitch.
There was little fight or sign of battle because too many had their eye on Wembley and didn’t want to pick up any injury. I like Mings but if he could see this during the game he needs to speak out, scream and and give a rollicking to those not giving 100%

Utter garbage, talk is cheap and the same old football cliches coming out. Point of fact. Coach is out of his depth, no consistency, tactics are non existent, shut up shop and get some points. Really concerned about Cup final.

Hear the same nonsense week in week out, no passion in the team, who is the leader roaring at his team mates to get them stoked up. Whelan or Jedinak did it last year, be a miracle if we stay up.

What do we think?
It’s no surprise that these Villa fans are starting to get frustrated with not just Mings, but with the whole team for their poor run of form this season. It seems that all the Villa fans want to see is the players fighting for survival and fighting for the shirt with passion. The best way to show the Villa fans that the players have what it takes to avoid relegation this season is to put in a strong performance against Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final and hope that can carry on into the Premier League.
