Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to discuss James Chester’s loan deal to Stoke City.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers if the club made a mistake in letting Chester leave on loan in the recent January transfer window.
Should Villa have kept hold of Chester?
Yes
No
This post then gathered numerous replies from Villa fans who were eager to have their say on the deal.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans discussing Chester:
"I was thrilled when we were able to sign him."

Bruce ruined Chezzy to the point that he cant live with pace of PL now

Dean Smith and whoever else sanction this move should be sacked. I’m not a great Hogan fan but we should have kept hold of him as well.

Given that Smith has now said he’s got too many training ground players it was a massive mistake to let him go. Current squad is devoid of characters and leaders.

Since making the move back to the Championship, Cheaster has made four appearances for Stoke so far (per Transfermarkt). Before leaving for Stoke, Chester only made two appearances for the Villa senior team. Now that the question has been asked to the Villa fans on whether or not they feel the club made a mistake in letting Chester leave on loan, it has caused a big debate on Twitter over the situation.

Yes should of kept Chester and Hogan as there both better than what we’ve got on the bench at present.

Anyone who went to the Liverpool Q/final and properly analysed his performance would know that Chezza is finished in top flight football.. Its very sad, because it’s mainly Bruce’s fault.

What do we think?
Given that Villa are currently the team that have conceded the most goals so far this season in the Premier League, maybe letting an experienced defender like Chester leave may not have been the best idea.
