Some Aston Villa fans have taken to social media to share their positive reactions to the performances of January signing Mbwana Samatta so far, ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game versus Southampton.
Samatta signed for Villa in January for a reported £8.5 million. The 27-year-old striker joined the Villans from Belgian club Genk, where he scored three goals in six Champions League appearances this season, in addition to the seven goals that the attacker managed to bag in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League.
After scoring 10 goals in all competitions this season, Samatta left Genk as the club’s top scorer for the 2019/20 campaign. The Tanzanian international has already given Villa fans a taste of his goalscoring ability since his arrival. The forward managed to score his team’s only goal in their recent 2-1 loss to Bournemouth, a game which also marked his Premier League debut.
Some fans on social media have shared their happiness around Samatta’s start to life at Villa Park. Read the positive social media posts of the Villa support regarding Samatta’s chances of scoring in their next game in the tweets below.

What do we think?
Samatta, who is valued at £10.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), has been showing off his goalscoring prowess at the highest levels this season, scoring one versus Liverpool in this season’s Champions League. In addition to scoring on his Premier League debut for Aston Villa, Samatta has given his new team some all-round solid performances in both of his first two league games for the club. According to Whoscored.com, the Tanzanian has made an average of two key passes per game in his first two Premier League appearances.
Samatta has also earned an impressive average rating of 7.3 for his first two Premier League performances, as per Whoscored.com. It may be fair for Villa fans to feel excited by their new signing’s first few performances. The relegation-battling side may be given a big boost by the addition of a proven goalscorer to the side ahead of the run-in.
