Aston Villa fans have been discussing Ahmed Elmohamady’s time at the club on Twitter.
This comes after Villa fan account @AVFCchats shared a post on their Twitter page listing some of Elmohamady’s achievements at the club since signing for £1 million.
Should Elmohamady start ahead of Guilbert?
Yes
No
This post then paved the way for many Villa fans to reply to the post with their thoughts on the full-back.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans praising Elmohamady:

I’ve never seen him as Premier League quality but I’ve rated him at Villa. For £1m he’s done a lot for the club and has helped us in promotion. He might not be the best player but he does always give it his all for the club.

Cult hero

Should start for me, particularly in the new system. Think he’d offer a lot more going forward than Guilbert at right wing back and considering we’re not playing out and out wide men anymore to give us width. The EFL semi final just one example of his quality from the right

The 32-year-old joined the Birmingham club back in 2017 from Hull City for a fee of £990k (according to Transfermarkt). Since then, Elmohamady has gone on to make 105 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals and assisting 18 times (per Transfermarkt). His latest heroics for Dean Smith’s side include him assisting Trezeguet’s dramatic late winner against Leicester City in the second leg of their semi-final clash in the Carabao Cup at Villa Park last month. This latest post on the Egyptian has provided Villa fans with the opportunity to share their thoughts on the player.
Hasn’t put a foot wrong since we lost at home to Leeds. Always on the overlap, great crosser of the ball. For me he’s ahead of Guilbert at the moment

Massively underrated. He always gives his best and looks better going forward than ever. His crossing is unbelievable..

What do we think?
It’s great to see so many Villa fans praising Elmohamady. With such a low transfer fee and the number of goals and assists he has provided during his tenure at Villa Park – including last month’s Carabao Cup effort – Elmohamady has certainly been worth the investment.
