Marcelo Bielsa has said that it is too early to evaluate the results of Adam Forshaw’s hip surgery.

The central midfielder, who started all six of Leeds opening games of the season, has been sidelined by injury since Leeds’ 1-0 loss to Charlton back in September.

Despite hopes in January that Forshaw could make a recovery in time for the Whites’ crucial run into the end of the season, it was eventually decided that surgery would be the best option for the 28-year-old, likely ruling him out from the rest of the campaign.

“Knowing surgery was likely to end his season, Forshaw and the Leeds United medical team have explored every possible alternative action,” a club statement said, something BBC’s Adam Pope also relayed on Twitter.

Today, Bielsa has stated that it is “too early” to evaluate how well Forshaw’s surgery went.

Forshaw’s time at Leeds

Following his £4.59 million move from Middlesbrough in January 2017, Forshaw played 12 games for Leeds in his debut season, registering a WhoScored rating of 6.95.

Forshaw played an influential role in Leeds’ promotion push last season, appearing 31 times in the centre of midfield for the Whites, averaging 0.8 shots, 0.9 key passes, 0.6 dribbles and 2.2 tackles per game.

However, after being ruled out after just seven league appearances this term and only going under surgery in February, it now appears Forshaw will have to watch Leeds’ promotion challenge from the stands for a little longer.
