These West Brom fans slate Conor Townsend after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Stoke on Monday night.
On Monday night, West Brom suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke, despite the Baggies having 68.7% of the possession.
However, Townsend was one of the players coming under fire, after the 26-year-old could only manage to achieve a WhoScored rating of 6.3/10, which was the worst rating from any of the defenders who started in the backline.
Here are some of the comments from the West Brom fans on Twitter:
Has Townsend actually done anything right since signing for us? Always feel like we’re playing with 10 men with him on the pitch. Hope he improves, want him to do well #Wba

@sportbbcwm Townsend horrendous again, Starg brunt Saturday. Zohore for 6ft 3 doesn’t challenge in air for nothing. Too many balls to butland and batth’s head. Ran out of ideas.#wba

Genuine question: what does Townsend bring to the team? Just can’t understand why Slav picks him. Crying out for brunt to have a go there with he’s final ball delivery imo. #wba

There aren’t many footballers I look at and think I would have a chance of beating them in a foot race over 30 yards but I would have a good chance against Townsend #wba

Was Conor Townsend the worst performer against Stoke?
Yes
No
These fans were right to be angry at Townsend, with the 26-year-old averaging a WhoScored rating of 6.6/10 in the 13 Championship matches he’s played this season, this performance was bad even for Townsend’s standards.
Conor Townsend is stealing a living as a professional footballer. #wba

What Do We Think?
After a performance like that, it wouldn’t surprise us if Townsend was dropped by Slaven Bilic next time out. The 26-year-old only had 56 touches of the ball against Stoke, and that’s probably for the best given how poorly Townsend performed.
