Supporters of West Bromwich Albion have slammed Sam Johnstone for his role in the 2-1 defeat away to Cardiff City last night.
During the loss away to the Bluebirds, the English goalkeeper picked up a match rating of 5/10 (as per Birmingham Mail), which many fans felt fell way below expectations.
Johnson at that free kick. The guy practically held up a sign with a big arrow saying ‘THIS WAY TO SCORE A GOAL’.

Ain’t gonna hide the fact I’ve never rated Johnstone, think he’s an awful keeper, I get nervous EVERY time ball goes near him.

Hopefully it’s the end of Sam Johnstone at the club.

Should Slaven Bilic drop Sam Johnstone for West Brom's next game?Yes, he's been terribleNo, he hasn't been bad |
During this season, the 26-year-old stopper, who is valued at £6.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), has featured in 29 games for the Baggies, during which he has kept only five clean sheets and conceded 33 in the 24 games where he has not (as per Transfermarkt).
In what has not been an overly impressive season for the ‘keeper, Johnstone has an average rating of 6.62/10 (as per WhoScored), leaving many frustrated with the Englishman.
Surely Bond will get his chance at @WBA now. Johnstone has made far too many mistakes and commands nothing past his goal line. Time for change Slav!! #baggies #EFL #wba

People asking what Johnstone did wrong.. Is it just me that thinks he’s not very good ??…

Can somebody inside the club tell Slav to drop Johnstone, or he will cost him his job for sure. https://t.co/PKp5cXNScZ

Sorry Chris but you’re wrong on this. Johnstone was woeful for the 2nd goal. Pushes the Cardiff player before the goal kicks taken, then takes it short for no reason. He’s a massive liability

What do we think?
While a 5/10 performance rating is not the end of the world (as per Birmingham Mail), Johnstone had to do much better in the build-up to Lee Tomlin’s match-winning goal.
In what has been a largely underwhelming season from the 26-year-old so far (as per WhoScored), perhaps Slaven Bilic should consider dropping the Englishman for a little while.
