After winning their last game of 2019 against Doncaster, Sunderland fans were hoping for another three points against Fleetwood. But with both teams scoring a penalty apiece, the game finished 1-1 (WhoScored.com).
To some fans, they would have just been happy not to see their team lose. But others were critical of the team, suggesting they should have won. They thought there was an improvement in the performance. However, this just highlighted that they should have won even more.
Hard-earned result against a good home team but realistically, we should’ve wiped them out. We need to be more clinical in front of goal but I think that would mean new faces coming in. Fleetwood wasting time after 30 minutes at home!!

Will take a point, but we definitely should have had three. Referee was absolute rubbish as per usual and Parkinson should have made some subs way earlier in the game, and that O’Nien sitter, unbelievable…

Need to put these chances away. 3 big chances second half which should of been buried. Played better the last 3 games, getting that ball into the box far more.

Frustrating result, but that seems to be the norm

Need to be way way more clinical. Other than that, much improved.

Can Phil Parkinson still get more out of this Sunderland side?
Yes
No
One fan thinks it is time for Parkinson to leave and he suggests a few alternative managers to take his place.
Playing well doesn’t get you results, get Phillips or Keane if he’d take the job

What do we think?
It could be small steps for Sunderland fans. They have now seen their team go unbeaten in four games. It is certainly not where they would have hoped to have been, but there is some progress.
