Phil Parkinson provided an injury update during this week’s press conference. He confirmed that Duncan Watmore was set to miss out the club’s match against Tranmere Rovers after taking a slight knock on Friday against Doncaster.
“Duncan, unfortunately, picked up an injury when he came on during Friday’s game,” said Parkinson. “It’s nothing serious but Wednesday will probably come too soon for him.” (Sunderland).
When fans were made aware of this news on Twitter, they were hardly surprised. The player has missed 114 games already through injury during his time with the club. In terms of days out injured, he has been in the medical room for 801 since joining the Black Cats.
Watmore, who is valued at £2.25 million (as per Transfermarkt), has only played a total of 120 games for Sunderland during his career, meaning he has missed nearly just as many as he has taken part in.

Is Duncan Watmore's time up at Sunderland?
Yes
No
Many fans think the club should just cut ties with the player now, and are thankful that his contract expires in the summer.
Watmore may as well leave at the end of the season

What do we think?
Watmore’s shocking injury history rightly leaves a bitter taste in Sunderland fans’ mouths. Hopefully, for the player, this injury isn’t as bad as his previous ones, and he is able to make a speedy recovery sooner rather than later. However, it appears as though the fans have already given up on him and are willing to move on.
