Sunderland Football Club are in desperate need of a goalscorer. The side have only scored more than one goal in a game on three occasions since Phil Parkinson took charge of the club (WhoScored.com). They have scored 18 goals in 17 games. But if you take away the three games when they scored more than one goal, they would have only scored eight goals in 14 games (WhoScored.com).
With the January transfer window open, it is a perfect opportunity for Parkinson to add some firepower to his lineup. One player who Sunderland Echo suggest could be great but, who hasn’t strictly been rumoured to join the Black Cats yet, is Gary Madine.
Indeed, this rumour has been discussed by many Sunderland fans, who appear to have mixed opinions on bringing the forward to the Stadium of Light. Some think he would be a welcome addition to the side and could seriously help with the team’s chances of achieving promotion. Others are slightly underwhelmed but realise he is better than the players they currently have.
Love to have him here

Would you take Gary Madine at Sunderland?
Yes
No
One fan, though, is concerned by his allegiances to Newcastle. They don’t want anything to do with him (Sunderland Echo).
Ain’t he a mag?

He’s a Mag…

What do we think?
It appears as though there is a mixed feeling amongst Sunderland supporters regarding Madine. But if he comes and scores goals, the fans will quickly forget about all that. What they need is a player who will make an impact. It shouldn’t matter who he supports.
