This week Phil Parkinson provided an injury update ahead of the squad’s trip to Tranmere Rovers. Parkinson only reported on two players who were set to miss the match.
One player was Duncan Watmore, and the other was Will Grigg. According to the manager, the Northern Irish striker has been missing for a few days now.
“Griggy has been ill with a virus. We have kept him away from the training ground because we don’t want that to spread,” said Parkinson (Sunderland).
When fans heard that Grigg was set to miss out through illness, they were relatively disinterested. The feel like he has looked ‘ill’ for a while now. One fan even jokes that they should keep him quarantined even when feeling fully fit.

Do you think Will Grigg can regain his form for Sunderland?
Yes
No
Another fan is worried that this means the striker won’t be moving on during the closing days of the transfer window, insinuating that he wouldn’t be fit enough to complete a medical.
So no medical for Grigg and his new team

What do we think?
Grigg, who is valued at £1.35 million (Transfermarkt), has only scored one goal in his 19 appearances in the league this season. These numbers are nowhere near good enough for a striker who is hoping to pull his team back into the Championship. Hopefully, if the player does stay, he will come back a new man when his illness subsides.
