This week, Sunderland Football Club drew with Fleetwood in the EFL League One. The match finished 1-1 after both teams converted their awarded penalties. Chris McGuire equalised from 12 yards in 86 minute (Sky Sports).
But some Sunderland fans feel the game could have been won if Luke O’Nien hadn’t missed an open goal. They feel he holds a lot of the blame for not being able to take all three points. The miss was unforgivable in some of their minds.
Can’t believe o’nien missed that open goal

Hope O’Nien gets no sleep thinking about that miss tonight.

o’nien how’ve you done that then?

Genuinely can’t get over how O’Nien missed that lol

As much as I love O’Nien, that was an awful miss #SAFC

Do you think Sunderland would have won if O'Nien scored his chance?
Yes
No
One fan suggests that O’Nien’s performance was lacking for the entirety of the match. It wasn’t just the open net miss he was upset about.
O’Nien’s worst performance in a Sunderland shirt!

What do we think?
O’Nien will regret not tucking away his chance during the game. Had he scored the goal, the side could have shot up into the top half of the table and been just two points away from a playoff spot (Sky Sports). But as it stands, Sunderland dropped another two points in a game where they should have taken all three.
