Defender Ashley Baker has signed for League Two side Newport County on an 18-month contract for an undisclosed fee. The former Sheffield Wednesday player made just 13 first-team appearances for the Owls and the club have thanked him for his services whilst wishing him well for the future via a post on their official website.
The club’s supporters took to social media to wish the Welshman well, as well as dropping a few comments on the move, ahead of his move to Rodney Parade after the Hillsborough outfit shared a message on Twitter with their followers.
Was letting Ashley Baker leave the right thing to do?

What do we think?
Judging by some of the replies from the fans, there was an acceptance that the Championship may have been beyond the defender’s capabilities and that a move was the best thing for him.
The well-wishes evidence there was no ill-feeling between the player and the club’s supporters. The prospect of more game-time will no doubt assist Baker’s development which has certainly suffered as a result of the competitive environment he has found himself in at Hillsborough.
