Rangers Football Club are doing exceptionally well this year under Steven Gerrard. The side have only lost three out of their first 37 competitive games. They have only drawn seven, meaning that have already won 27 games this season (WhoScored.com). But with the January transfer window open, it is an opportunity for Steven Gerrard to gamble with his squad. Should he keep with the same group of players that have got him this far, or make improvements to the squad’s depth and trim the fringe players?

Rangers fan account We Are The People asked fans if they thought the club needed to make any signings in January. There were many fans who agreed that, while the starting eleven is currently pretty solid, they were in need of some depth. One of the key areas where they wanted to deepen the squad was in the striker and right-wing roles.

Some fans even brought up Lawrence Shankland from Dundee United. The striker has gone on record as saying he is a Rangers fan, and has scored 21 goals in 23 appearances for Dundee this season alone (transfermarkt.co.uk).

Do you think Lawrence Shankland would be a good signing for Rangers?

Others admit that they are happy with the squad right now. They don’t want to make any changes.

What do we think?

The purchase of a player like Shankland would be a huge buy for Gerrard. Alfredo Morelos is having a brilliant season himself, scoring 28 goals in 35 appearances (transfermarkt.co.uk). Should Gerrard bring Shankland in, it could provide the team with just enough goals to help them win the league.
