There are just a few days left of the transfer window as Rangers fans eagerly await to see if their club is going to make any reinforcements to Steven Gerrard’s squad. Back in mid-December, Rangers News admitted that Gerrard’s side was lacking depth in its forward options. In the same article, they suggest Sam Cosgrove as a potential target for the Gers’ recruitment team to bring on.
As of right now, no striker has been signed by Rangers in this window. But that hasn’t stopped fans from discussing what still needs to be done. A few fan accounts, after bringing up Cosgrove’s name as an Alfredo Morelos backup, quickly found out that other fans weren’t so keen on the idea. They don’t think the Scotsman has the quality needed to play for Rangers.

He’d get sent off every game if he played for us the way he plays for the sheep.

He’s garbage.

Would you take Sam Cosgrove at Rangers?
Yes
No
One fan questions the extortionate fee that it could cost to pry Cosgrove away from Aberdeen. Despite having a transfer value of just £450,000 on transfermarkt.co.uk, this fan expects to pay a couple million for his services.
Definitely big physical presence something different again but they would want to much and no point spending millions in a 3rd choice

What do we think?
Cosgrove has 21 goals in 29 appearances this season averaging a goal every 118 minutes. When we limit these statistics to his time playing in the Scottish Premiership, he only has 11 goals in 20 league games, scoring a goal every 153 minutes on average. Cosgrove’s scoring rate is good, but not great. Should Rangers go for the player, they won’t want to be paying a couple of million for a player who could be sitting on the bench behind Morelos.
