On Tuesday, reporter Andy Newport announced that Matt Polster was set to stay at Rangers for the second half of the season.
The PA Sport reporter suggested that it was originally in Gerrard’s plan to send the player out on loan for some experience, but an impressive performance against Hearts has convinced the manager to let the right-back stay and fight for a spot.
When fans read this news they were glad to see that the player was staying. They hope he is given a chance to have a run in the team, especially with James Tavernier yet to return from injury. While he isn’t necessarily a better option than Tavernier, they think he is much better than Jon Flanagan.
Not surprised at this, with Tav out and Flanagan being as bad as he was, Polster showing up well as he did on Sunday will rightly elevate him up the pecking order. Hope he takes his chance tomorrow.

Is he better than tav no is he better than flan without a doubt

Think SG’s plans was that Flanagan would be securing a new contract with a decent performance against hearts.
That backfired for both.

Who should start until Tavernier is fit?
Polster
Flanagan
Other fans admit that they have known for a while that Polster was their best back-up at right-back. They are slightly worried it took Gerrard so long to figure it out.
Should we be worried by the fact that almost to a man, the rangers support knew some time ago that matt polster was a better player than jon flanagan yet the manager didn’t appear to…….

What do we think?
If Polster does stay, it could be a great opportunity for the player to fight for a spot ahead of both Flanagan and Tavernier. It appears, however, that he is already ahead of Flanagan in the pecking order according to these fans though.
