Some Celtic fans have been hailing former manager Ronny Deila on the Norwegian being appointed as the new manager of Major League Soccer Club New York City FC.
Deila, now 44, has signed a three-year deal with the MLS side, having left Norwegian side Valerenga recently. Deila has also previously been in charge of another Norwegian club in Stromsgodset before he joined the Hoops in the summer of 2014 to replace Neil Lennon.
Celtic fans: Was Deila better than Brendan Rodgers?

Don't joke about
NYCFC posted the announcement on Twitter and it saw many Hoops fans invade the post. They hailed Deila for his contributions and wished him all the best for his new job.

Deila was in charge of Celtic from 2014 to 2016. Apart from replacing Lennon, he was replaced by former manager Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2016. After that, Deila went back to his home country to join Valerenga.
At Parkhead, he picked up as many as 2.12 points per game. He managed a total of 118 matches during his time there, also winning the Scottish Premiership title twice for the club. At Valerenga, he managed a total of 107 matches for the club and had a points per game tally of 1.45.
At Stromsgodset, he managed the highest number of games – 206. But his points per game tally wasn’t as high as it was at Parkhead, with it standing at 1.58.
What do we think?
Deila was crucial in helping the club tide over the transition post-Lennon and pre-Rodgers. While in the long-run, he might not get as much credit as Rodgers or Lennon but he still helped the club win two Premiership titles and he deserves immense respect for it. Celtic fans are right to hail him in the next step of his career.
