Some Celtic fans have been left delighted by the latest transfer news involving Bnei Yehuda midfielder Ismaila Soro in the ongoing January transfer window.

The latest transfer update about the Ivorian midfielder says that he has helped Yehuda reach the quarter-final of the Israeli Cup and is expected to travel to Glasgow later this week, ahead of a £2million switch to Celtic. He is being expected to be the club’s second signing of the ongoing January transfer window.

So far this season, the Hoops have been regularly using a 4-2-3-1 shape under Neil Lennon. Callum McGregor and Scott Brown have been the regulars in the double pivot. McGregor has made 36 appearances in all competitions for the club, with Brown also having made 36 appearances for the club.

As for Soro, he has been a regular in midfield for Yehuda this season. He has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the club. While he is yet to score or assist even once, but Soro has been a constant presence in defensive midfield.

The 21-year-old Ivorian was a regular in midfield last season as well. He made 35 appearances in all competitions for the club, racking up a couple of assists. He made 25 appearances in the Israeli League.

What do we think?

Brown and McGregor have clearly been overused. The number of appearances they’ve made shows that and it also shows that they need reliable depth in those midfield areas. Soro is 21 and brings that depth to the plate. Celtic have had very good success with players from Israel, having signed Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed. Soro can be another success story.
