Some Celtic fans have been feeling pessimistic about manager Neil Lennon’s comments on their striker Odsonne Edouard and his future at the club.

Lennon made it clear in a recent interview that the club is not looking to sell the Frenchman at any point and has made it clear that any bids will be ‘very unwelcome’. He has said that the club is keen on keeping the former Paris Saint-Germain at Parkhead in the second half of the campaign.

Edouard has been linked with a move to Leicester City, with former manager Brendan Rodgers looking to sign him.

The CelticBible reposted a video of the interview which had Lennon speaking about the striker. And Hoops fans are in no mood to believe what he says, with one suggesting it would similar to the scenario they found themselves involved with in the deal for Keiran Tierney to go to Arsenal as Lennon had stated that Celtic “would not be pushed over.

Lennon had joined the club after the exit of Brendan Rodgers towards the end of the previous season. He had returned in the end of February as the interim manager but the former Bolton boss was appointed as the permanent manager before the new season began.

As for Edouard, he has been in impressive form under Lennon this season. He has played 31 games in all competitions this season for the Hoops, scoring 16 times and racking up 15 assists on the way as well.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man did well for the club in front of goal last season too. He made 52 appearances in all competitions and racked up 22 goals, picking up eight assists on the way as well.

What do we think?

Lennon’s comments could easily mean that Edouard could be sold in the summer instead of this very month. And that should alarm Celtic fans like it is. He has been the club’s most important goalscorer after Moussa Dembele and the numbers show that. The Hoops have to get the maximum out of him, in terms of contributions and value.
