Celtic veteran Craig Gordon has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants to depart for Hearts in the ongoing January transfer window.

FootballInsider247 claim that the goalkeeper has made his intentions very clear to the club and to manager Neil Lennon. He is yet to give up hope of potentially leaving Parkhead in the ongoing winter transfer window, with Hearts firmly linked with the former Sunderland goalkeeper in recent days. Gordon is desperate to engineer a move to his former club before the window slams shut.

Will Gordon go down as a Celtic legend?

Sure, no question about it

FootballInsider go onto say that Hearts boss Daniel Stendel is convinced of Gordon’s abilities, while Lennon will only let the veteran go if the club signs another goalkeeper before Friday’s deadline.

An outcast at Parkhead

So far this season, Gordon has made only six appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. Four of them came in either the Europa League or in the Champions League qualifying games. He is yet to make a single Premiership appearance for the club, keeping three clean sheets so far.

As for last season, the former Hearts and Black Cats stopper had made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. He let in 27 goals, keeping a total of 15 clean sheets for the club.

His game time at Parkhead reduced this season, as the club signed Fraser Forster on loan from Southampton last summer. Forster has been a regular between the sticks, making 29 appearances in all competitions for the club.

TIF Tactics

It is clear that Gordon has fallen down the pecking order. The goalkeeper has never been far from knee injuries in his career, having sustained four knee injuries in the last six years. That doesn’t help him and the Hoops need to offload him and get a much younger goalkeeper.
