Aston Villa fans have been sharing their disappointment with the latest injury news to Tom Heaton and Wesley.
This comes after the official Villa Twitter account shared a post on their page announcing the pair will miss the rest of the season due to “significant knee ligament damage” from their 2-1 win over Burnley on Wednesday.
Which player's absence will have the biggest impact on Villa?
Tom Heaton
Wesley
This post then led to many Villa fans replying with their heartbroken messages.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans reacting to the club post:
Such a shame! Finally found a system that seemed to suit Wesley and he goes down like that. Heaton injury is a real blow. Best GK we have had since Friedel and now he will probably never be 100% fit again. Such a cruel game. #avfc

Wesley was forced off after a nasty tackle by Burnley’s Ben Mee caught the Brazilian in the knee after he had opened the scoring for the visitors. Later on, Heaton was the next to leave the pitch with a similar injury whilst trying to make a save.
Now that the club have announced the severity of the duo’s injuries, many Villa fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.
gutted. Best wishes to both. Wesley best game imo the other day and Heaton has been excellent. Big losses

Wish both guys the speediest recovery and look forward to seeing them both on the training pitch ready for next season be it PL or Championship.

What do we think?
Both Heaton and Wesley will be blows for Villa as their first-choice goalkeeper and striker respectively. Of course, the fact that Wesley managed to find the back of the net, as well as producing a rating of 7.62 (WhoScored) in the game just adds to the disappointment as he appeared to be picking up some form.
As the January transfer window has opened, these injuries could be the kick Villa needed to get in some reinforcements to replace the duo.
