Scottish giants Celtic seem to be close to missing out on signing Andraz Sporar, with the striker now edging close to a move to Sporting Lisbon.

A Bola in Portugal claims that Sporting are close to agreeing on a fee of about £5.9 million ( 7 million) with Slovan Bratislava to sign the striker. The talks are said to be ongoing, per the report. Despite Celtic and other clubs being interested, the deal with Sporting is now edging closer to completion.

Celtic fans: Are you disappointed to miss out on Sporar?

Nah, not much

Could've been a very good signing

Sporar has previously been linked with a move to Parkhead, with the Hoops having already confirmed the signature of Polish striker Patryk Klimala.

Scoring for fun in Slovakia

So far this season, Sporar has been in impressive form for his club Slovan Bratislava. He has made a total of 26 appearances in all competitions for them, racking up a tally of 20 goals and assisting five times as well.

In the group stages of the Europa League for Slovan, Sporar has done well. He has played all six of their games, finding the back of the net five times and picking up two assists.

Last season was just as impressive for the striker. He made only 36 appearances in all competitions. He scored as many as 34 goals and racked up a fantastic tally of nine assists as well.

TIF Tactics

Sporting seem close to selling their captain Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United, meaning they will have big money to shell out. That clearly puts them in a much more advantageous position for Sporar. Celtic can’t afford to pay that much for the player.

They’ve already signed Klimala, which means that they probably won’t sign another striker this month. It shouldn’t come as too big a disappointment if Sporar ends up at Sporting.
