These West Ham fans were fuming with David Moyes after his comments about new signing, Darren Randolph.

The Republic of Ireland international re-signed for the Irons on 15th January for £4.23m as they required back-up for Lukas Fabianski amid the Polish shot-stopper’s own continual injury concerns.

Football.London quoted Moyes’ words when the West Ham manager was asked how fit Randolph is. Moyes’ reply hardly filled these Hammers fans with confidence, saying that he thinks the goalkeeper is as fit as they can get him and that they are happy to have him on board. These comments were later relayed to the fans via Uber West Ham on Twitter.

It’s safe to say that these Hammers fans were fuming, with many leaving their immediate thoughts on the social media network.

Here are some comments from the West Ham fans on Twitter:

Was Darren Randolph a good signing?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Randolph has played 39 times for Ireland’s senior national side and is valued by Transfermarkt at £4.05m.

You can’t blame these West Ham fans for being fuming with Moyes’ comments, because if there was any suspicion of an injury or lack of fitness, why sign him then?

What Do We Think?

Maybe Moyes just worded his response wrong, because surely Randolph would have to pass fitness tests to join the club in the first place, or did someone forget to do that? Even if the shot-stopper is fine, why the manager would think it’s a good idea to say he thinks the goalkeeper is fit, is beyond us.
